    Layara's vessel had just arrived in the orbit of Eriadu, proceeding to the Planet's grounds and atmosphere. As she landed, she stuck a flag into the ground which revealed a Mandalorian Sign.

    "I hereby declare the Planet of Eriadu and all of its content and surrounding area, to be the official and complete ownership of Myself, Layara Raven."

    That is correct, you can not claim a planet for an individual player. However if you start your own faction you certainly can.

    that is not fair you should just saying be able to capture planets if they are uninhabited if they are not then you can just fight and kill the inhabitants

    Why can't individuals claim planets? That is stupid. In real star wars, you would be allowed to only due to the fact that all you must do is make sure you uphold this claimed territory.

    Well, this isn't real Star Wars, if it were, it would take weeks to months to build some of these ships, so you're willing to excuse that one. No, the main reason is because a single player can't govern a planet and has no government at all, good or bad. Whereas a faction is our version of a government. You either make a faction and claim planets, or claim them for an existing faction.

    WAIT A MINUTE.

    THIS RULE CLEARLY STATES THAT INDIVIDUALS ARE ALLOWED TO CLAIM PLANETS FOR THEMSELVES.

    Individual players can own planets should the laws of combat/conquering be followed or if some other situation occurred like a government sells a planet.

    Ok, several things, I have no idea why the rules say what they do now, because I did have them written as only factions get them. Two, these planets aren't uninhabited, so they have people which means the planet needs governing and a system of government set up. Even a dictatorship needs more than one person ruling. So being an individual, you are not a faction/government.
    Now when you create a faction, you pay a certain fee which is this games version of saying "we have set up/paid for some sort of of government." Now you can conquer planets, but in the factions name and therefore the planet has a government.

    As for being a lawyer, good for you, I hear the pay is well. Doesn't change how this game is run.
